Take the Pledge to go Cruelty-Free in 2009

Yes , I’ll take the 2009 pledge to purchase cruelty-free products!

Click the banner below to add your name to the growing list of compassionate consumers in North America who have already signed the pledge.

Make a commitment to eliminate animal testing by pledging to only purchase products approved by the Leaping Bunny Program, which provides the best assurance that no new animal testing is used in any phase of product development by the company, its laboratories, or suppliers. The Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics’ (CCIC) Leaping Bunny Program administers a cruelty-free standard and the internationally recognized Leaping Bunny Logo for companies producing cosmetic, personal care, and household products.

To encourage more companies to sign on to the Leaping Bunny Program, we have launched a nation-wide pledge campaign to urge consumers to take the leap to cruelty-free products. By signing the pledge you will help to make our collective voices even stronger and drive more companies to go cruelty-free, saving animals from cruel and unnecessary testing.

P&G and HSUS Create Partnership

Joint Declaration by the Humane Society of the United States® and the Procter & Gamble Company on the Elimination of Animal Use for Consumer Product Safety Evaluation

The Humane Society of the United States and P&G have established a strategic partnership committed to the elimination of animal use for consumer product safety evaluation that at the same time ensures marketed products continue to be safe for both the consumer and the environment. Both organizations have a long history of commitment to alternatives development and we believe that by working together we can enhance the likelihood of achieving our common objective of making animal testing for consumer products unnecessary.

PG.com - Research Involving Animals

Here's the Ethical Beauty Way:

It's so nice that they have a common objective of making animal testing unnecessary when the majority of cosmetic companies are cruelty-free. In other words, P&G just stop already!

Thanks for helping animals HSUS, but we have a better way. Don't buy cosmetics that have been tested on animals! How's that for a partnership that saves animal lives. Simple yet effective.

Ethical Beauties Don't use Dove

I love the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty. Today they are concentrating their efforts on young women just like you. It help girls realize that what they see in movies and magazines represents an unrealistic standard of beauty, not an everyday achievable look.

I agree 100%. Did you know that all the pictures in magazines are airbrushed to cover pimples, wrinkles, double chins, etc.? Same goes for the movies. Look for my blog in the new year about before and after magazine pictures.

Here's the problem though. Dove is owned by Unilever who tests their cosmetic products on animals. Check out their animal testing policy for yourself:

Animal Testing at Unilever

Today Unilever is trying to reduce the number of tests that use animals and the number of animals that they test on. Yet, today there are more cruelty-free cosmetic companies than companies that test on animals. So Unilever, we thank you for helping young girls find their own beauty, but Ethical Beauties will not use your Dove products or any of your other products.

When you become an Ethical Beauty, the products you use are not tested on animals and that makes you a beautiful person. Your self esteem comes from knowing that you are helping to save animal lives. You love all the Hollywood hype and the magazine ads, but you are perfectly capable of deciding what makeup you are going to use. And you choose makeup that is not tested on animals. And you are gorgeous for it.

Thanks for being an Ethical Beauty
~ Merry Christmas ~
You are a beautiful creature

Cruelty-Free Deodorant

Yes, cosmetic companies test the ingredients that are in deodorants on animals. Imagine being force fed aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex gly or having it tested on your skin. I think it is easy to picture how cruel this would be.

If you are buying from a drug or grocery store near you, there is a huge assortment in the deodorant isle. However, a lot of them have been tested on animals. Print this list out to help you sort out the good from the ugly.

Rachels Makeup Tip of the Week!

*Now that you have your eyes sparkling it is time to add a dramatic touch...*

*Liquid Black Eyeliner*

**When applying eye liner always make sure you are keeping the line thin and straight across the eyelid**

*Black Mascara*

** A secret tip for applying mascara is to blink as you are applying it to your upper lashes. This eliminates clumps of mascara on your lashes.**
